Pyrex Butterprint Value Guide: What Is It Worth?
Butterprint is the quintessential vintage Pyrex pattern — turquoise and white roosters and farm motifs on a white background (or white-on-turquoise, depending on the piece). Made from 1957 to 1968, it’s one of the most collected patterns and the one most new collectors start with.
About Butterprint
Butterprint features roosters, wheat sheaves, and butter churns in a folk art style. It comes in two colorways:
- Turquoise on white — the more common variant, white glass with turquoise decoration
- White on turquoise — white decoration on turquoise glass (less common, slightly more valuable)
The pattern ran for over a decade, making surviving pieces numerous — which keeps prices accessible for beginners.

Turquoise vs. White: Which Is Worth More?
The white-on-turquoise colorway (turquoise glass, white decoration) is consistently worth 20–40% more than the standard turquoise-on-white colorway. The pieces are less common and visually striking.
On any Butterprint piece, check whether the background glass is clear/white or turquoise — that’s the tell.
Condition Notes
Butterprint’s turquoise decoration fades with use and dishwasher exposure. The rooster motif is the first place to show wear — if the rooster’s fine lines are soft or washed out, that’s moderate wear.
Specific things to check:
- Rooster feather detail — should be crisp
- Wheat sheave detail — fine lines fade first
- Background glass — any cloudiness indicates dishwasher haze
- Butter dish lid fit — lids sometimes get separated or damaged
Why Butterprint Is a Great Starting Pattern
It’s abundant enough to find at thrift stores and estate sales with regular hunting. It’s affordable enough to complete a set without a huge investment. And it displays beautifully — the turquoise-and-white is the definitive mid-century kitchen aesthetic.
