Pyrex Snowflake Value Guide: Blue vs. Garland

Pyrex Snowflake Value Guide: Blue vs. Garland

There are two distinct Pyrex “Snowflake” patterns — and they’re worth very different amounts. Here’s how to tell them apart and what each is worth in 2026.

Snowflake vs. Snowflake Garland: The Difference

Snowflake (Blue) — introduced in 1956, features blue snowflakes on a white background. This is the original and more common of the two.

Snowflake Garland — introduced in 1962, features gold/yellow snowflakes connected by a garland chain on white glass. Also called “Gold Snowflake” by some collectors.

The color is the tell: blue flakes = Snowflake, gold/garland = Snowflake Garland.

Snowflake Garland and Blue Snowflake have similar values across most pieces — some collectors price Garland slightly higher for the gold colorway.

Condition Notes

The blue decoration on Snowflake (Blue) fades gradually and is particularly affected by dishwasher cycles. The blue snowflake edges are where wear shows first. Gold decoration on Snowflake Garland tends to hold up slightly better visually.

What to check before buying:

  • Hold up to light — is the blue/gold fully saturated or faded?
  • Check the glass surface for dishwasher haze (white cloudiness)
  • Look at the rim — chips here are common and devalue significantly
  • On sets: are all four bowls matching in condition and color saturation?

Seasonal Demand Note

Both Snowflake patterns see a demand bump in November–December (holiday collecting season). If you’re selling, time accordingly. If you’re buying, December through February can offer better deals as seasonal demand drops off.
